Gianna Bird: “I am an artist, maker, problem solver, and teacher, with a strong interest in how things work. After a lifetime of crafting, 25 years of silversmithing, and a deep love of nature, watercolor has become my lasting obsession.”

Sheila Davis: “I have been involved in the art world all my life, both professionally and personally. I taught Elementary School Art in Needham for 24 years, then Middle School Art for 3 years, and I continue to be a representational artist showing work throughout New England.”

When I start painting a picture, I will sit in front of a blank page, take a color of paint and start making marks. I will not be thinking of anything in particular, I just start working intuitively. I decide what colors I want to work with, for example, I might take a yellow and start laying that down. I tilt the paper and move the paint around. Then I might take a red and place the wet paint in several places, tilt and blend with the yellow, then see where that takes me. I trust the color and flow of energy to lead me.

Carolyn Latanision was fortunate to grow up in a house with a mother who was both an artist and an art teacher, so drawing and painting were simply accepted as a normal part of life. Although accomplished with oil, acrylic, pastel, and casein, watercolor became an addiction in adulthood because of the many challenges it presents. The technical difficulties made it both fun and difficult, often a gamble, the results rewarding. Read more about the artist here

Valentines Craft Workshop. - SOLD OUT

Save the Date for our Valentines Craft Workshop. On January 25 from 10 - 11:30 am. Julie Cordonnier and Naomi Wilsey will teach participants how to decoupage oyster shells for Valentine's Day. All materials are supplied, and the cost is a $20 donation for our Community Fund. Class will take place at St. Paul’s Church, 59 Court Street in Dedham.
