Welcome members and visitors.
We reach out to communities through a variety of art activities that are open to the public including art exhibits, art projects for children at no cost, art demonstrations by professional artists, museum visits, and hands-on painting workshops and outdoor “plein air” painting. Our Painting Group meets weekly to share art tips, helpful suggestions and to socialize.
To make our many art activities more accessible, we offer rides to members who are not able to drive to in-person meetings. For those who cannot join our meetings in person or online, the art demonstrations are recorded and posted online for access anytime from anywhere.

Sam Vokey is an oil painter who specializes in landscapes and commissioned custom paintings. Sam has been painting for more than 30 years. He is an elected member of The Guild of Boston Artists and has won the designation of Copley Master from the Copley Society of Boston. He is a graduate of Bowdoin College in Maine and Middlesex School in Concord.
He attended the R.H. Ives Gammell Atelier in Boston where he won a four-year scholarship. This was a European style atelier program that only admitted five students at a time. Those students worked closely with a master painter to learn the fundamentals of painting still life, landscape, portrait, and figurative work.
His painting style is most closely associated with the Boston School tradition of painting which crosses Realism with some of the softer edges and painterly qualities of Impressionism. Vokey’s landscapes and still lifes demonstrate a strong consideration for creating balance between the overall composition and the light and dark values in his paintings.
Sam has had many one-man and group shows at different galleries including most recently at The Guild Of Boston Artists 2017… a one -man show of landscapes entitled “Water & Light.”

Robert Noreika
Robert ‘Bob’ Noreika has been a professional artist for forty years. Bob’s passion for art is matched by a natural talent for painting a wide variety of subjects, highlighted by expressive coastal renderings, intimate woodland scenes, and street scenes. Over the past decade, Bob has worked enthusiastically creating large-format works on both canvas and paper. An ongoing series called “Turtle-esque,” these studio pieces incorporate his years of observation, rendering, and careful studies of aquatic life, expressing gestural fluidity in a semi-abstract setting. In 2009, the New Britain Museum of American Art acquired one of these pieces for its permanent collection.
A graduate of Paier School of Art, he is a prominent, nationally award-winning artist and illustrator. His paintings hang in both corporate and private collections throughout the United States, Europe, and Japan. Bob’s work is also featured in 100 Artists of New England by Schiffer Publishing. He is represented in numerous galleries and teaches and lectures throughout New England. He has illustrated several children’s books and magazine editorials.
Bob is a signature member at the American Watercolor Society as well as the New England Watercolor Society. He is also an elected member of the National Society of Painters, the Salmagundi Club, the Lyme Art Association, the Connecticut Watercolor Society, the Connecticut Plein Air Painters Society, and the Connecticut Academy of Fine Arts.
