Camp in Summer
I admire artists who paint in a free and decisive manner, either creating painting “alla prima” at one go, or creating the appearance of doing so. I like the energy that this style expresses, although I have learned that the appearance of spon-taneity is achieved only with a clear plan, good design, and a lot of forethought. Not to mention good drawing!
I feel that interesting shapes, shades, and design abound in many things, and capturing the spirit of those things is a thrilling challenge. Thus, I have not restricted my work to flowers, landscapes, people, or architecture- it’s all fair game and I enjoy the challenge of painting varied subjects.
For several years, I studied with Gary Tucker at the Kaji Aso Studio, Boston, and took many workshops sponsored by the Newton Watercolor Society. I currently study with Barry van Dusen, a well-known wildlife artist. I am a member of the Dedham Art Association, the Newton Watercolor Society, the New England Watercolor Society and the American Watercolor Society.
I have exhibited frequently with The New England Watercolor Society, the Newton Art Association. The Newton Watercolor Society and the Dedham Art Association. I have recently had solo shows at the Westwood Library, the Weston Library, The Sargent Library in Boxborough, the Ames Senior Center in Dedham, and the Sterling Senior Center in Sterling , MA.
