Eastern Point Lighthouse, Gloucester
George Ransom, a Walpole resident, has been painting for about twenty -five years. He is currently studying with Susan Kelley and Caleb Stone on Monhegan Island.
His style has evolved from an impressionistic to more representational in a loose impasto style using high key colors and broken brushwork. George started using pastels about seven years ago and became enamored with the technical process and the result.
George has won several awards for his artwork, and his paintings have been on display locally in several venues. He has been a member of the Foxboro Art Association for more than twenty years.
His favorite plein air sites include Monhegan Island, Gloucester and Rockport, many light house scenes, Maine, and Vermont as well as many local sites. He has exhibited in a number of local libraries, Mass General Hospital and other venues.
The primary focus of his art is of landscapes, marine art, house portraits and still life floral paintings. His vacation photo references aid in painting memorable scenes. George most recently joined the Dedham Art Association and looks forward to many years of participation.
